The Cuban actor Luis Alberto Ramírez, son of the renowned performer of the same namedied this Sunday in Havana, as announced in Facebook Cuban television producer Carlos Collazo.
Ramírez, who followed in the footsteps of his father, who died in 1990, in a family of seven siblings, stood out in productions such as The hidden side of the Moon, Longed for Meeting, Operation Courage, Memories of a grandfather and The chosen one of time.
He also stood out in children’s programs such as The yellow umbrella and The path of the minstrels.
In a March 2024 interview for CubactorsRamírez fondly recalled his father’s lessons about not disparaging any character and avoiding typecasting.
He said that, when expressing his desire to be an actor, he warned him about sacrifices and demanded success on his own merits. Even in a shared film, he told him: “In front of the cameras we were two actors and outside of them we were father and son again.”
He talked about difficult anecdotes, such as the filming of Memories of a grandfatherin which a premature explosion left shrapnel in his legs for 20 days.
Among his most recent works is the soap opera Vice versa, broadcast last year by Cubavisionwhere he played Rolando and shared the scene with actress Nancy González.
His daughter, assistant director at Calendar and student at the Faculty of Audiovisual Media Art (FAMCA), continues the audiovisual lineage.
