News Colombia.
The Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) announced a strong sanction against 10 companies that participated in Black Friday 2024 but that failed to comply with the rules related to the information, guarantees and real conditions of their offers. The entity determined that these companies engaged in practices that affected market transparency and violated consumer rights during one of the most important discount days of the year.

According to the official statement, investigations revealed that several companies promoted products with incomplete or misleading information, offered warranties that did not correspond, or did not comply with the conditions announced in their commercial campaigns. These irregularities led to thousands of consumers not receiving clarity about prices, benefits or restrictions when making their purchases.
The sanctions imposed by the SIC amount to more than $3,068 milliona figure that reflects the seriousness of the violations and the entity’s intention to send a strong message to the business sector. The consumer protection authority recalled that discount days require a higher level of responsibility and transparency on the part of merchants.
The SIC also pointed out that these behaviors affect not only consumers, but also fair competition between companies. While some businesses strictly comply with regulations, others take advantage of high demand to use deceptive commercial strategies that distort the market and harm user confidence.
In its statement, the entity reiterated that it will continue to act firmly against any non-compliance that affects the rights of Colombian consumers. “The SIC del Cambio will continue to monitor electronic and physical commerce practices, especially during seasons of high commercial activity,” the authority indicated.
