Santo Domingo.-The president of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), José Ignacio Paliza, warned of the possibility of more cases related to the drug trafficking and organized crime.
Likewise, the Minister of the Presidency also assured that this does not mean that the country is worse, but that “in our Dominican Republicimpunity was no longer an option.”
- Paliza made this warning during his address to the country this Monday, where he also said that the recent cases related to drug trafficking should not be interpreted as an institutional deterioration, but as evidence that in the Dominican Republicto “the law” finally acts without asking permission, without looking at colors and without stopping before any power.”
“That firmness is what allows the law to act. No matter who you are, what party you belong to or whether or not you are powerful,” he said.
Similarly, the official stated that if the population knows names, advanced files, processes assets and multiple extraditions, It is because “the country has changed.”

As for the party, Paliza announced that the organization has suspended and expelled all people formally linked to investigations for illicit activitieswho must respond to justice.
However, he did not mention by name those who have been suspended or expelled.
In addition, he reported that internal audits will be carried out reinforced for the entire party register; Complete files of leaders and activists will be reviewed; and will be proposed to National Congressl the modification of the Law 155-17, to convert political parties into obligated subjects within the anti-money laundering system.
Likewise, Paliza called on those involved in illicit activities—whether from the PRM or any other party—to voluntarily surrender before justice reaches them.
“Sooner or later, they will fall. And let it be clear: no party, no leader and no structure will be able to protect them,” he asserted.
The politician urged all political organizations to act seriously and not cover up cases within their ranks.
Paliza assured that since 2020 the Dominican Republic has recorded historic advances in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime.
In this period, 355 people linked to drug trafficking have been extradited, indicating that this is the highest number ever recorded in the country.
He also assured that 226,814 kilograms of drugs have been seized, more than the 159,440 kg seized during the previous 16 years combined, and another additional 67,373 kilograms have been seized thanks to joint operations with agencies such as the DEA, INL and CARICOM.
In addition, 187,221 people have been arrested for crimes associated with drug trafficking and microtrafficking.
