Registration to fill vacancies available on the Editorial and Programming Committee (Comep), of the Brazilian Communication Company (EBC), an entity linked to the National System of Social Participation in Public Communication (Sinpas), ends this Wednesday (26), at 11:59 pm. 
The opportunities are for representatives of three segments of society: Social Communication courses, the cultural community and entities defending human and minority rights. Access this link to find out about the notice and register.
The election will be organized by an internal commission whose members were defined by the Presidential Ordinance No. 537published on November 10, via SEI da EBC. Each member of the Committee will have an alternate, who will replace him/her in his/her absences or impediments.
The representatives’ mandate will last for the remaining period of Comep’s current mandate, starting on July 8, 2025, and lasting until July 8, 2027, with reappointment being prohibited.
Comep members will be chosen from triple lists, made up of people, preferably, of different genders, races and regions of the country.
The election will be carried out by direct and secret vote, also through the Brasil Participativo platform, with support from the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic. Incumbents and substitutes will be designated by decree from the President of the Republic.
Social Participation at EBC
EBC had been without social participation for nine years. On June 11, 2025, the committees were established, representing a historic milestone for the company.
The former Board of Trustees, which included representatives from the government and civil society, was abolished in 2016.
The installation of the Sinpas committees occurred after the acting president, Geraldo Alckmin, published, on June 5, the decree designating members for Comep. Cpadi representatives were appointed in 2024, with Presidential Ordinance No. 634/2024.
You members of the two committees were elected in an electoral process that takes place in 2024 and is open to all civil society.
Comep aims to promote the participation of civil society in monitoring the application of the principles of the public broadcasting system, observing the plurality of Brazilian society.
Cpadi is responsible for following the programming guidelines broadcast by public communication stations operated by EBC, with a focus on promoting social participation, social, cultural, regional and ethnic diversity. Furthermore, the committee aims to ensure a plurality of ideas when approaching facts, stimulating regional and independent production, and promoting educational, artistic, cultural, scientific and informative content.
