International observers ratify unprecedented participatory democracy in Venezuela

During the fourth Popular Consultation that took place this Sunday, November 23 throughout the national territory, the international observers who accompanied the process confirmed the democratic spirit and civility that reigns in Venezuela.

In this sense, they described this Election Day as an unprecedented event in the world and that demonstrates that in Venezuela there is a participatory and leading democracy, as highlighted by the representative from Argentina.

«We see how participatory democracy is exercised here in each commune. Empires say there is no democracy, but this process is an example. The Popular Consultation shows that true democracy does exist, and the projects chosen by the communities arise from themselves,” he stressed.

The observers highlighted that in very few countries the people are offered the opportunity to deepen democracy, through mechanisms of direct participation.

Likewise, they stated that despite the position of some foreign governments, which insist on the “nonexistence” of democracy in Venezuela, community processes demonstrate the legitimacy and strength of a participatory model that responds to the needs of the communities.

This democratic festival was attended by 79 international observers, who ratified the validity of the active participation of the people and recognized the importance of these electoral exercises to consolidate projects that emerged from the popular bases.
