The duo of Carol Solberg from Rio and Ceará’s Rebecca, runners-up in the rankings, secured Brazil’s only podium at the Beach Volleyball World Cup in Adelaide (Australia). It was the first time they won a medal in the competition. Carol and Rebecca were bronze after winning against compatriots Thâmela and Vic (world number 1 couple) by 2 sets to 0, with splits of 21/18 and 22/20. The world champions were Latvians Tina and Anastasija who defeated North Americans Nuss and Brasher 2-1 in the final (21/15, 15/21 and 15/11).
In her history of participation in World Cups, Carol had reached the quarter-finals twice: the first in 2007, alongside Maria Elisa, and 10 years later together with Maria Antonelli. Rebecca reached the round of 16 in 2019, 2022 and 2023.
In the women’s competition at the 2025 World Cup, Brazil also had Olympic champions Duda/Ana Patrícia – who withdrew in the quarterfinals due to injury – and Vitória/Hegê. In the men’s category, the pairs André/Renato, George/Saymon and Evandro/Arthur Lanci represented the country.
The men’s world title went to Olympic champions Ahman and Hellvig after the final between Swedes. In the final, they beat compatriots Hölting Nilsson and Andersson by 2 sets to 0, with scores of 25/23 and 21/19. The French duo Rotar and Gauthier-Rat won bronze with victories over the Germans Ehlers and Wickler 2-0 (21/15 and 21/15).
