Teposcolula, Oax., President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo yesterday continued her work tour of the Mexican southeast with her visit to San Pedro and San Pablo Teposcolula, where she reiterated that there are “a few” who seek to return to the regime of corruption and privilege, to whom she said: “No more! Mexico is walking along the path of the Fourth Transformation.”
During the presentation of the progress of the General Plan Lázaro Cárdenas del Río in the Oaxacan Mixteca, held at the Teposcolula sports unit, he pointed out that “for the good of all, first the poor. That is not going to change. We have that maxim: the people’s money belongs to the people of Mexico, never again from the powerful, from the privileged.”
In front of inhabitants of various towns in the region, he added that it has been shown that “when the people are united there is nothing that stops us” and gave as an example the election that was held this year of the members of the Judiciary, highlighting its new president, the Mixtec indigenous Hugo Aguilar.
The head of the Executive specified that the Lázaro Cárdenas General Plan in the Mixteca seeks to reverse the rates of poverty and lack of medical care to compensate for the neglect in which the people of the region have historically lived.
According to the federal government, this is a comprehensive strategy of coordination between agencies and the three levels of government for the benefit of 1.54 million inhabitants and which adds up to an investment of 5,900 million pesos in road and hospital infrastructure, Welfare programs and artisanal roads.
Sheinbaum Pardo stressed that one of the priorities is to improve the quality of medical care; To achieve this, there will be more and better health centers, in addition to the expansion and renovation of the IMSS hospital in Huajuapan de León.
This, coupled with the fact that starting in 2026 there will be Wellbeing pharmacies as part of the House to House Health program; Regarding the educational issue, he said, investment will be made in the creation of new high schools.
Lázaro Cárdenas Batel, head of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic and coordinator of the plan, recalled that it was presented on January 25 of this year and its main objective is to reduce poverty conditions in the Mixteca, which covers eight states of the country, to pay a historical debt with these communities.
Teachers break up the act
During the event, teachers from section 22 of the National Coordinator of Education Workers knocked down the fences placed on an alternate street to the event site, managing to stand on one side to throw chants.
The mentors demanded the repeal of the educational reform promoted during the six-year term of Enrique Peña Nieto, the repeal of the 2007 Issste Law and the reinstatement of the single negotiating table with the leadership of the Coordinator, while the President continued with her speech.
