Rander Peña: we advocate for peace in all of Latin America

Venezuela urges not to fall into microphone diplomacy

The executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America (Alba), Rander Peña, warned that today “Latin America is threatened, threatened by supremacist powers that seek to impose their interests through force.”

In an interview with the Italian writer Geraldina Colotti, Peña pointed out that “the United States will always have tricks to exploit some governments” for its interests. Given that, he said that “we trust in the wisdom of each of the peoples of Latin America. If they have demonstrated something throughout this entire history, it is that they are peoples with a deep vocation to defend sovereignty, independence, self-determination.”

The vice chancellor for Latin America also highlighted that if Venezuela has done anything throughout all this time, “where we see a real threat, real provocations to generate a ‘regime change’, it is not advocating for itself. Venezuela does not advocate for itself. Venezuela advocates for the entire peace of all of Latin America.”

The diplomat noted that “an undesirable situation in Venezuela will impact the entire region. Fortunately, most countries in the region understand this, and that is why they have contributed, through their actions and statements, to protecting that peace.”

He regretted that the US understands “peace through strength, we don’t, we believe in peace through social justice.”
