Deybi Juan Mel Rojas was sentenced to eight years in prison, because a firearm was found in his home, which had been stolen from a member of the National Police of Peru in the province of Sullana.
The measure was issued after he was found responsible for the crimes of illegal possession of a firearm and aggravated reception.
At the trial, prosecutor Ander Alvites Llanos supported responsibility with the statement of the owner of the weapon found. He also presented the ballistic expert report and other evidence.
The case occurred on September 29, 2024, when the police intervened in a property in the popular Nueva Sullana urbanization, after a shooting was reported. Instead they found the firearm and detained Mel Rojas.
