Militants from Peru Libre leave Huancayo for Lima in protest against Cerrón's preventive detention

A group of sympathizers, friends and militants of the Peru Libre party began a sacrificial march towards Lima, a mobilization led by Bertha Rojas. The participants indicate that they seek to demand the freedom of the founder of the political organization, Vladimir Cerrón Rojas, currently under preventive detention.

According to the organizers, hundreds of citizens called themselves together to travel various sections of the Huancayo-Lima route. The march, announced as an expression of “popular outcry,” maintains as its axis the rejection of what they call “political persecution.”

The participants affirm that Cerrón would be facing “arbitrary” judicial decisions and point out that, in their opinion, the process should continue under simple appearance. Likewise, they question the preventive detention ordered against them, which they consider “unfair and unconstitutional.”

During the departure ceremony, the spokespersons stressed that the mobilization seeks to make their claims visible and draw attention to what they consider to be judicial rulings that affect the party. The march will continue its journey towards the capital in the coming days.
