La Altagracia.– The president Luis Abinader announced this Saturday a series of projects intended to improve sanitary sewage, drinking water and electrical energy services in the municipality of Higueyprovince Altagraciaduring a community meeting held under the program The Government With You.
The president highlighted that the province Altagracia keeps the higher pace of country growthwhich has caused a gap between urban development and the capacity of current public services. Consequently, he stated that actions will be carried out in the short, medium and long term to balance this reality.
Accompanied by the executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewers (INAPA), Wellington ArnaudAbinader reported that the tender for the Higüey sanitary sewage will be launched in December, with an investment of US$124 millionmore than 200 kilometers of pipelines and a new treatment plant.
Regarding the supply of drinking water, Arnaud explained that this November the tender for the Cerro Aqueduct begins, with the aim of making it independent 36 neighborhoods of the main aqueduct and improve the efficiency of the service. This work would be starting in 2026.

Furthermore, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved the financing of the sewer and aqueduct of Verón, scheduled for the middle of the same year.
- Abinader also carried out reinforcements in power lines, transformers and substations to optimize energy service. The installed capacity has already increased from 79 to 146 transformers and is projected to reach 240 by 2028.
