Gilmer Álvarez is appointed as the new Superintendent of Sutrán

Through Supreme Resolution No. 021-2025-MTC, the Government appointed Gilmer Álvarez Zapata as the new Superintendent of the Superintendency of Land Transportation of People, Cargo and Goods (Sutran), agency attached to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).

The Agency claimed to have received Vice-Ministerial Resolution No. 004-2025-PCM/DVGT, which confirms the administrative responsibility of the former president of the institution.

The rule, published this Friday, indicates that the appointment is made in compliance with the provisions of Law No. 29380, which created SUTRAN, as well as the Organic Law of the Executive Branch (Law No. 29158) and Law No. 27594, which regulates the participation of the Executive in the appointment of public officials.

The resolution was endorsed by the Minister of Transport and Communications, Aldo Prieto, and bears the signature of the President of the Republic, José Jerí.

Álvarez’s appointment comes after the resignation of Anatoly Pavel Ruiz Cueva was accepted, which was also published today in the newspaper El Peruano.

Sutran is the entity in charge of supervising and supervising the land transportation of people, cargo and merchandise in the country, ensuring road safety and compliance with current regulations. Its role is key in reducing informality and improving quality and safety standards in the sector.
