The sectoral vice president of defense and Sovereignty, Vladimir Padrino López, stated that no one will take away the right of the Venezuelan people to live in peace and continue building their independence, despite the direct threats that the country suffers with the deployment of the United States in the Caribbean.
“We strongly reject maneuvers, exercises and deployments in our nearby area of interest. We reject it forcefully. Enough of threats, lies, insults and imposition of power, just for trying to preserve regional hegemonies,” he expressed during an event in tribute to the musicians of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb).
“No threat, no air-naval deployment, no matter how intimidating it may be against the people of Venezuela, the Caribbean and Latin America, will take away our joy and our right to continue working on the projects that we have to continue developing so that Venezuela continues to travel with dignity on the path of its independence with a future perspective.”
In this context, the Minister for Defense criticized the military exercises carried out by the United States and Trinidad and Tobago in Caribbean waters, and said that they were not “innocent maneuvers.”
“These waters are not moving right now because of their natural tide, but because there is the presence of destroyers, of amphibious ships (…) invading the tranquility of the Trinidadian people,” and with the sole objective of “threatening” Venezuela, but “none of that is going to take away our peace of mind.”
“Innocent maneuvers, that does not exist,” he said, explaining that planned maneuvers can be carried out, “but in this case it is an aggression against the dignity of the people of Venezuela.”
Minister Vladimir Padrino López described as “sad” the position that the Government of Trinidad and Tobago has taken in lending its territory so that “instruments for the death and massive destruction of peoples can be placed there.”
