Peasants, indigenous people and Afro communities in the Valley denounce irregularities in the delivery of land.
Peasant, indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities in Valle del Cauca denounce irregularities in the delivery of land and demand clarity from the Government in the allocation criteria.
Peasant, indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities in the department of Valle del Cauca have denounced a series of irregularities related to the delivery of landby the National Government.
In the last few hours it was learned that different groups have organized around a letter to request the Executive for a consultation table that would allow the problems raised in relation to the matter to be presented, especially with everything related to the prioritization of people from outside the region when making assignments.
“We ask you to help us have more certainty and clarity about the delivery of land that it be much fairer and that there is a mutual agreement between farmers and indigenous people,” said Humberto Salazar, representative of one of the communities located in the municipality of Bugalagrande.

In his opinion, because of these there is no clear route that provides the necessary guidance to determine where the allocation of land should focus.
For his part, Humberto Córdoba, leader of one of the Afro-Colombian communities in the municipality of Zarzal, emphasized that There are several prioritization criteria for deliveries that do not correspond to the needs of the territory.
“We are asking the National Government for concertation and agreement on the commitments. We see that there is a problem, as in other municipalities where people arrive who have the rights and requests, but who are not from the territory,” he highlighted.
In that sense, he pointed out that the National Government has been asked to be closer to the communities. “We are asking them to reach an agreement and reach the territory and talk to the communities. We need it to be done well to avoid conflicts between farmers,” he said.

Another voice that also joined the claim was that of Walter Morales, leader of the municipality of Tuluá, a town located in the center of the Valley, who expressed his disagreement with the allocation made by the Government.
“We are being affected by the problems of the State. It is not fair that our farmers and our associations are not taken into account. They haven’t given us anything and we see that people from other lands have been given the lands that belong to us,” he highlighted.
According to Morales, for quite some time the lands have been in the hands of the Sociedad de Activos Especiales, SAE, and there has been no willingness to help lay the foundations for a roadmap in which greater clarity is provided for citizens.

The voice of Governor Dilian Francisca Toro was also added to the request made by the peasant communities of Valle del Cauca, who was willing to articulate the request with the national institutions.
“There are many people here who need land, but they have preferred to make deliveries to the indigenous people of Cauca“said the president.

For her, it is essential that within the department the land can be given to those who need it most. “We have 86 community councils requesting land and there are 19 indigenous councils of the Valley requesting land and despite that they give it to those outside the Valle del Cauca, so what we made the decision was that we were going to look for experts to help the farmers,” he explained.
