Private investment grew 11.4% in the third quarter

The private investment grew 11.4% in the third quarter, according to information from the Central Reserve Bank (BCR). Not counting the rebound in 2021 due to the pandemic, this is the best percentage advance since 2013.

According to the monetary entity, this result was characterized by the double-digit increase in non-residential investment, mainly sustained by the strong rebound in mining investment.

Meanwhile, economist Juan Carlos Odar highlighted the increase, however, he noted that private investment continues to be the component of domestic demand that has grown the least since 2021.

OTHER RESULTS

BCR information revealed that private consumption advanced 3.6% between July and September, consolidating eight consecutive quarters of expansion. The advance was a consequence of the recovery of household purchasing power after the increase in employment and income, as well as inflation close to the center of the target range and the recovery of consumer credit.

Regarding public consumption, it grew 4.8% in the period of analysis due to the greater hiring of service location personnel, CAS and professional and technical services. An increase in maintenance, travel, basic services, communications, advertising and dissemination expenses was also observed.

“In the third quarter of 2025, public investment registered a growth of 4.8% compared to the third quarter of 2024. This greater dynamism compared to the previous quarter was supported by progress in the execution of projects by subnational governments,” indicated the BCR.
