FIFA (International Football Federation) announced this Friday (21) that Brazil will be one of the venues for the women’s edition of the FIFA Series, a competition that aims to offer growth opportunities for national teams that have few opportunities to face opponents different from those they traditionally face.
In March 2024, a pilot version of the tournament was held, with only men’s teams. Now, during the FIFA Dates of March and April 2026, both men’s and women’s teams will have the opportunity to participate in the initiative.
“The women’s FIFA Series will debut with events in Brazil, Côte d’Ivoire and Thailand,” said world football’s governing body in a press release.
“The FIFA Series aims to unlock the development potential of players, coaches and fans, promoting the universality and diversity of football through meaningful matches. The 2026 edition will further expand this impact, for both men’s and women’s football”, declared FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The men’s edition of the competition will be hosted by Australia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Puerto Rico, Rwanda and Uzbekistan.
