The president of the Venezuelan Federation of University Education, Ariana Llanos, presented to the president a series of proposals that emanated from the recent Congress and whose fundamental axis is the strengthening of higher education.
“In this Congress, where we have convened in a first state phase, where in addition to debating five important lines we also carried out an electoral process (…) well in that first phase we debated what are the new challenges that the Venezuelan student movement has today,” he indicated and also highlighted that it is divided into five dimensions.
Llanos explained that the first point is to “create the Law for the Promotion of productive employability, which allows us to link internships from the first moment of the university career in three moments: technical internships and professional internships” and added “also to accompany the Law for the promotion of technical and productive Economic Education.
«We believe that the Law does not adapt to the new needs, that it does not adapt to the Venezuelan university that we are building today with our Bolivarian Government and we ask that in this Constituent process that the student movement is doing, we have also convened with the workers, our professors and the entire university community to debate. Then a new moment to establish and reorganize the Universities Law,” he stated.
Another proposal is focused on the Community Service Law, which seeks to seek closeness between students and communities, taking the new communal structure as a vanguard.
“We deeply believe that this must be linked to this entire process of construction of the Venezuelan commune and it is a responsibility of this student movement to organize our trainers, which allows us to strengthen the academic quality of our students and that we then push ourselves to become much better students in all our areas of specialization,” he highlighted.
As a third moment, the resignification of the university scholarship program stands out, “in the areas of health, engineering, specialized education, science and security.”
For the university sector, healthy fun is also contemplated in the proposals presented to the head of state, among them the Jubilees of the University Games stand out, “through the great Mission Venezuela Viva Venezuela, also promote the solidarity plan of the Rumba – Tourism and university recreation, we students want to party, we want to do tourism and we believe that it is one of the important spaces to strengthen.”
“We also want to make a proposal that arose from those debate tables and that today we have a very nice experience in the state of Aragua, which is the Popular University Consultation, today in our university spaces, we are organizing to define what the priorities are to serve our university, not only the students, but also the entire university community,” Llanos explained.
The president of the National Federation of University Education also put on the table the option of a “high-level technical training plan, for cadres with political responsibility, colleagues who are already finishing our academic career, we must have a willingness to be able to contribute to our Homeland and our country.
“Lastly, President, we want to propose the comprehensive training plan for national sovereignty, for the formation of student peace brigades, as we are very aware of the role that a student movement corresponds to us in this new stage,” he concluded.
