The proposal for the new committee, according to the government, is to monitor, evaluate and propose solutions for the 23% increase in the volume of new requests received by the municipality.

The INSS argues that, despite the growth in the number of requests in the queue, the average time for granting benefits has fallen. Currently, this period is 35 days.

Pending issues

INSS data shows that there is 920 thousand processes that can be resolved directly by the institute. In addition to these cases, the new committee will seek “solutions and improvements” to 1.9 million orders that have external pending issuessuch as those cases with absence of documents and biometrics.
