The Judiciary will issue a sentence against Martín Vizcarra this Wednesday the 26th

The sentence counts down. The oral trial against Martín Vizcarra is perhaps its last hearing before hearing the sentence against the former president accused of receiving bribes of 2.3 million soles for the Hospital de Moquegua and Lomas de Ilo works.

In this morning’s session the final arguments of Vizcarra’s lawyer and the former president himself and the legal representatives of the construction companies Obrainsa and ICCGSA will be heard.

Upon his arrival at the room of the Fourth Collegiate Court of the National Superior Court, Vizcarra pointed out that after his intervention this morning “there will be no doubt” of his innocence. “I hope you listen objectively, with impartiality, to the allegations that my lawyer gives… I am certain of my innocence,” he said.

The former head of state will have 15 minutes for his material defense in which he must refute the prosecution’s accusations.

After this morning’s hearing, the court must announce the date of the session in which the sentence must be read. The Prosecutor’s Office has requested 15 years in prison against the accused.
