Important achievement for 2026 1st year of high school at Liceo 5
The Educational Center, located in the heart of the northern area of the capital city, which operates in the Extended Time modality –María Espínola- will add to its EBI grid, 2 groups of 1st year of Baccalaureate for the next school year.
The Management highlights the commitment and collaboration of the entire community, particularly parents and relatives of the students who attend the institution.
“We are very happy, it is an institution that has grown a lot, to the point that next year, for the first time, we are going to have a Baccalaureate, which represents for us a fantastic achievement from the point of view that we will be able to care for and protect the educational career of our little ones.” he remarked Professor Daniel Montero.
“The 1st year of Baccalaureate is one of the most difficult levels due to the fact that there is an important change of mentality in the adolescent who graduates from the Basic Cycle or EBI and moves on to that other stage” he pointed out. “The little boy who lived in this area where Lyceum 5 is had to go to Lyceum 1 or 2 with the distance left, with a lot of new classmates, with new officials and all the challenges that this presents” held. “The idea, which was a challenge, was to get those EMS groups –Higher Secondary Education- where we obtained very important support from the Board of Directors and especially from our Inspector of Institutes and Lyceums who has supported us in a fantastic way” projection.
“We achieved the first EMS and with that we are going to work next year to strengthen these little ones, work with high schools 1 and 2 so that they support us from the point of view of raising awareness about the orientations they can choose in 5th and 6th” overtook THE DIARY PROFESSIONAL the Director of Lyceum No. 5.
For this orientation task, the contribution of the Institutional Psychologist and the Coordinators will also be essential.
EXCELLENT COMMUNITY SUPPORT
“The neighborhood has supported us from the first minute in a way that has been exceptional. APAL has enormous strength in this institution” projection.
“The work of the officials is very good, both direct and indirect teaching. I am carried by the wave and that is why we achieve a lot of things. Sometimes we lose track of everything that has been achieved in such a short time” he stated.
“When we do any charitable activity or as happened a few days ago with the 1st Workshop Meeting that was held at the departmental level here in our high school, both APAL and the families supported us by donating things, working with the students, because an educational center without the presence of the family is uneven” Montero said.
THIS YEAR OPERATING WITH 7 GROUPS
The institution currently has 7 groups, all of Comprehensive Secondary Education (EBI). “There was a group that we already knew we were going to lose because we were betting on having few kids to work in a closer, more personalized way” argument.
“Next year we will have 8 groups: 2 Sevenths, 2 Eighths, 2 Ninths and 2 EMS Firsts” he detailed.
“It will be the only high school that will have 1st year of Baccalaureate in the morning. All the other high schools in the city will have it in the afternoon shift” specified the Director of Lyceum 5. “That is another important achievement, we worked on it at the level of the Directors’ Room, because the little boy who comes here will have the possibility of being free at noon to dedicate the rest of the day to other activities” said.
EXTENDED TIME AT EBI
The 7th, 8th and 9th grade groups operate under the Extended Time regime, María Espínola modality. “We start at 7:30 a.m. and some days we finish at 4, 4:30 p.m. or 3 p.m., depending on the workshops. We have 10 in the afternoon shift in addition to physical education” reported Professor Daniel Montero.
“It is an enormous job that is done with the little ones from the point of view that they have the curricular activities typical of this cycle – history, mathematics, physics and chemistry – but in the afternoon they have 10 workshops that range from landscaping to financial education. They are proposals chosen by them and that give them a very important comprehensive training because they will depend not only on the knowledge they acquire in chemistry, physics, history and Spanish language but it will also position them in a different way to face the challenges that arise in the society” he stressed.
THE MATEADA OF 5
Today one of the institution’s traditional extracurricular activities will take place.
“We are going to have the Mateada del 5, an activity that is organized every year and to which the family is invited. The children are going to make different presentations. Each class had a genre of film. They were the ones who presented the theme, they presented how each unit can be assembled into the general work. Everything is planned, coordinated and managed by them” stood out.
“The mateada begins at 9 and will last until 12:30. We are going to culminate with a lunch, a snack shared with the entire community for which parents and close neighbors have been invited. It is one more element among all the activities that have been carried out during the year and from which we have only received satisfaction” ended up expressing Professor Daniel Montero.
