He Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) assured that the funds necessary for the 2026 electoral processes, which include General, Regional, Municipal and Populated Center Elections, “are fully assured.”
In a statement, the sector recalled that in May the National Elections Jury (JNE) requested S/ 585.8 million to organize the 2026 elections.
As part of that request, the Executive included S/ 331.1 million in the 2026 Budget Bill sent to Congress in August.
The MEF specified that these resources “will be available to the JNE from January 1, 2026,” and added that there are additional funds planned that can be made available during the year “depending on the pace of execution and the needs that the JNE supports.”
MEF questions JNE concerns
The statement indicates that the alerts expressed by the electoral body “lack support”, since in previous technical meetings the mechanism to ensure the availability of resources was explained.
“The procedure to ensure the necessary resources was explained and the full willingness of the Executive to guarantee its financing was reiterated,” the ministry emphasized.
In addition, the MEF indicated that it will accompany the JNE to improve the execution of the allocated funds, recalling that, as of November 20, progress in electoral activities reaches only 46.9%.
Finally, the ministry noted that it will continue to coordinate with electoral organizations to ensure “transparent and orderly elections throughout the country.”
