PDVSA ordered the formation of an investigation committee to determine the causes and rule out “an act of sabotage promoted by enemies of Venezuela” at the facilities of the Petrocedeño crude oil upgrader, located in the state of Anzoátegui.
Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa) reported this Thursday that a fire that occurred at the facilities of the Petrocedeño crude oil upgrader, located in the state of Anzoátegui, was extinguished “in its entirety.” The state company will begin investigations to determine if the incident was caused by “enemies” of the country.
In a statementthe company assured that the fire occurred on Wednesday, after which “the PDVSA emergency brigades and the control organizations” of the coastal region were activated immediately, which applied “industrial safety protocols.”
No injuries or nearby communities were reported in the incident. PDVSA ordered the formation of an investigation committee to determine the causes and rule out “an act of sabotage promoted by enemies of Venezuela,” without mentioning anyone in particular.

In addition, the company assured that there will be no interruption “of the industry’s productive processes, thanks to the established contingency and forecast plans, which is why it maintains its operations.”
Likewise, the state company reaffirmed “its commitment to industrial safety, the integrity of its workers and environmental protection.”
Recently, a woman lost her life and about 200 people were affected by a cloud of sulfur dioxide that covered areas of the Anzoátegui and Sucre states, after a fire occurred at the José Antonio Anzoátegui petrochemical complex, located in Barcelona.
