The leader of the PT bench in the Chamber, Lindbergh Farias (RJ), filed this Thursday (20) measures with the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and the Board of Directors of the Chamber questioning the departure of deputy Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ) from the country, despite precautionary measures that prohibited him from leaving Brazil.
According to Lindbergh, what is at stake is the authority of institutions. “A congressman convicted of serious crimes against democracy cannot flee to Miami as if nothing had happened. The law applies to everyone and will prevail against the fugitive congressman who followed the example of Carla Zambelli, Eduardo Bolsonaro, among others”, highlighted the PT leader.
This week, deputies from PSOL-RJ (Pastor Henrique Vieira, Glauber Braga, Chico Alencar, Tarcísio Motta and Talíria Petrone) asked the STF to decree of Ramagem’s arrestarguing that “everything indicates that he fled to the United States”.
The Chamber, in turn, stated that was not officially reported about Ramagem’s departure nor authorized official travel abroad.
Former director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) during the Jair Bolsonaro government, Ramagem was sentenced in the coup plot criminal action to 16 years in prison and runs freely.
During the investigation, Ramagem was banned by minister Alexandre de Moraes from leaving the country and had to surrender all national and foreign passports.
