SANTO DOMINGO.– “In every smile, in every greeting, I recognize values that are also the heart of my life: love for the country, our Christian values and the family that supports us.”
With these words, the new United States ambassador to Dominican Republic, Leah F. Campos, He began his message to the country after presenting his credentials this Monday, thus making the start of his diplomatic mission official.
Campos, who represents the president’s government donald trumpexpressed that assuming the Embassy in Santo Domingo is “the greatest honor” of his career, and highlighted the special connection he says he immediately felt with the Dominican people.

The diplomat pointed out that the values she identifies in Dominican society: faith, family and a sense of patriotism coincide deeply with her own upbringing. “It is a true pride to represent my nation before such a close and friendly people,” he stated.
Campos assured that he will work “shoulder to shoulder” with the Dominican authorities to strengthen prosperity, security and opportunities in the region, while committing to travel the country to better understand its people, its culture and its traditions.
He also thanked the warm welcome received and said he already felt “at home,” highlighting the historical friendship between both nations.
“I know that the relationship between the United States and the Dominican Republic is strong and lasting. Together we have faced challenges and we have also shared great achievements,” he expressed.
With his arrival, the United States begins a new diplomatic stage in the country, marked, he said, by cooperation, closeness and the strengthening of bilateral ties.
