President Donald Trump will receive the mayor-elect of New YorkZohran Mamdani, who will take office on January 1 and whose victory came after a campaign marked by his criticism of the president.
Without revealing more details, Trump announced the meeting at the White House from his official Truth Social account, ensuring that the meeting was requested by Mamdani, whom he named “communist mayor.”
Mamdani confirmed the meeting and maintained that he wants to “speak frankly” to the president about the economic difficulties that New Yorkers face, especially the high cost of living, according to a report by EFE.
The first Muslim mayor of New York, he won the election with a campaign that focused on proposals such as freezing regulated rents, making bus transportation free and creating municipal supermarkets.
