The director of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca), Wilson Camacho, wait that the Court of Appeal revoke the non-custodial measures imposed on seven agents of the National Police who are accused of killing five citizens in La Barranquita, and that they provide for all preventive detention.
Camacho explained that the Public Ministry decided appeal the decision of court of first instance, because it considers that the evidence shows the joint participation of all agents in what the prosecution body considers an extrajudicial execution.
He official states that all processed must receive the same sanction.
“We hope that the court corrects that situation. All those who participated, as demonstrated by the Public Ministrythey must have the same measure of coercion“said the magistrate when referring to the appeal filed.
He court postponed to Friday, January 16, 2026 the audience in which the appeal will be heard, because not all defendants had been formally notified of the appeal, a necessary step to guarantee due process.
Camacho He referred to the topic after dictate a conference within the framework of the Legislative Board on the challenges of the New Criminal Responsibility of Companies in the Dominican Republic, organized by the Association of Merchants and Industrialists (ACIS).

The measure
Judge Yerixa Cabral, of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention of Santiago, imposed three months of preventive detention on four National Police agents and issued less severe measures against another seven for their alleged involvement in the shooting deaths of five men during a police operation in the La Barranquita sector, southwest of the city.
The agents who will serve preventive detention are: Private José Octavio Jiménez Peña, Senior Sergeant Sócrates Fidel Féliz Féliz, Sergeant Hairo Mateo Morillo and Corporal Yohandy Encarnación. They were sent to the Manoguayabo Special Operations Center, in the Santo Domingo Oeste municipality, Santo Domingo province.
