Oil and gas royalty collections fall 7.5% between January and October due to lower activity

The royalties The hydrocarbon sector showed a decline again in 2025. Between January and October, companies in the sector paid the State US$916.8 million, reported the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE). The figure reflects the lower dynamism of the activity, as it represents a drop of 7.5% compared to the US$ 990.9 million collected in the same period of 2024.

October’s behavior confirmed this trend. That month, companies operating in the hydrocarbon industry paid US$84.7 million in royalties, a result 17.4% lower than the US$102.5 million registered in October of the previous year.

According to INEI figures, in the first 9 months of the year, the production of natural gas and natural gas liquids decreased 8% and 4%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2024.

In October, companies contributed US$44.4 million for the exploitation of natural gas, US$15.5 million for oil and US$24.7 million for the production of natural gas liquids.

With these numbers, the contribution of the activity continues to be relevant, although marked by a downward trajectory in recent months.
