Cusco: 380 artisans from Espinar conclude the 'Crafts and commerce for the world' program

More than 380 artisans from 13 communities in the Area of ​​Direct Influence of Antapaccay in Espinar (Cusco), presented to the public the result of months of training, effort and technical learning. The 30 participating groups exhibited clothing, fabrics, accessories and artisanal pieces made with ancestral techniques of the K’ana culture, combined with creative and contemporary proposals that seek to access new markets.

The venture was carried out by the Antapaccay Mining Company and the Peasant Training Center closed the ‘Awasqa K’ana Mamallaqtaman’ program, developed within the framework of the ‘Crafts and Commerce: Thorn for the World’ initiative.

The day stood out for the energy, emotion and pride that the artisans conveyed when presenting their creations. The fashion show, one of the central moments of the event, allowed the exhibition of innovative designs developed during its formation. All pieces were evaluated by a panel of special guests from Antapaccay, the Espinar Chamber of Commerce and the Espinar Economic Development Management.

The event not only celebrated artisanal talent, but also the consolidation of skills in weaving, design, marketing and business management, key skills to drive sustainable economic development in their communities.

“The program had an investment of S/ 335,060.00, financed entirely by Antapaccay. This contribution made it possible to strengthen capacities, accompany the growth of the participants and generate new opportunities for commercial coordination through district and provincial fairs and promotional spaces,” the promoters cited.
