An entrepreneurial Hackathon was held with the participation of a good number of students
The Entrepreneurial Week in the department of Cerro Largo closed with a Hackathon.
Like the Entrepreneurial Rally last Tuesday, this Wednesday’s proposal was organized by the SME Center, the Municipality of Cerro Largo and the Shopping Center.
The purpose of these activities is to inspire young people to enter the entrepreneurial world.
“Together with the other members of the Development Board – SME Center and Shopping Center – on Monday, within the framework of the Global Entrepreneurial Week, we had an Entrepreneurial Rally touring various ventures that stand out in the department, in which many children from various educational institutions accompanied us. They were able to talk with the entrepreneurs, share something in each venture. Everything closed with a lunch at Olivares Santa Laura” counted Gervasio Rodríguez.
Antonia Segredo Meanwhile, he said that in this Entrepreneurial Rally there were 4 technical stops. “We went to visit Granja Palleiro to learn about the facilities and the history of entrepreneurship there, we also went through the Family Agricultural Market to learn how cooperatives work, then we went to Fábrica Tacuarí, an emblematic company that has been in the city for many years, and as the last stop we did an olive oil tasting at Olivares Santa Laura, a very nice experience for the kids, they got to know the plant, another dimension of the company that was also good for them to get to know.” he detailed.
“The second day took place on the upper floor of the Unión Obrero Center. We did a Hackathon which is a competition for possible solutions” he explained. “There, both educational institutions and leaders of local institutions form a team to provide possible solutions to ventures and companies that came to share their weaknesses and intentions for change” he added.
“The objective is for students to have innovative ideas, to be able to tell them how they would solve their problems” said the Coordinator of the SME Center.
LOTS OF YOUTH PARTICIPATION
Both activities had a very good number of participants, which leaves the organizers satisfied. “In the Rally we were 40 people on a bus that toured the city. In the Hackathon the same thing, a very interesting number of young people participated taking into account that we are in the middle of the closing stage of the year so many people are in other activities as well” Segredo specified.
He considered it essential to have achieved the involvement of young people in these proposals. “We are doing awareness workshops in the different educational institutions of the department because it seems to us that we plant the seed in these children who are finishing Basic Cycle or Baccalaureate. We think it is important that they be nourished by this entrepreneurship” held.
“We were surprised when we went to the educational centers because many of them welcomed us to tell us about their ventures” projection. “These are 14, 15 and 17 year old boys who are very well organized, managing logistics that caught our attention. It is also good that the institutions are encouraging the public to make these types of tools known.” I comment.
DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL
“We are with the Development School taking its first steps in 2025, trying to plan everything for 2026” Gervasio Rodríguez advanced. “The receptivity of the educational institutions was great, the little ones were very enthusiastic, they participated, and now we hope to redouble our commitment for next year’s Global Week.
