Santo Domingo. – He Ministry of Housing and Buildings (Mived) will deliver this Saturday the first phase of the complex Las Parras Correctional and Rehabilitation Center to the General Directorate of Correctional and Penitentiary Services (DGSPC), to then begin the transfer of inmates.
To the venue Some 2,400 prisoners will be transferred coming from different penitentiary centers, after their delivery to the DGSPC.
It is recalled that the minister of Mived, Carlos Bonillahas reported that the buildings in the first quadrant will be delivered to begin the transfer of prisoners.
Las Parras is located in the municipality San Antonio de Guerra. The center has been built with a investment exceeding RD$8,000 millionwith the aim of reducing overcrowding in the country’s prisons.
Two accommodation buildings will be delivered equipped with cells for conjugal visitsareas for people with disabilities, reflection spaces and maximum security zones, among other facilities, while another phase will be delivered in 2026.
