The US exempted more than 200 Peruvian products from tariffs: What are they?

The Government of the USAthrough an Executive Order, expanded the number of products that may enter its market free of duty.

With this measure, more than 200 new goods, of which about 100 are part of the Peruvian agro-export basket, will be able to access without paying import duties, reported the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), Teresa Mera.

The minister highlighted that the measure includes products from the national supply such as avocado, coffee, cocoa, mangoes, ginger, lemons and oranges, natural fruit juice, among other products.

In that sense, he highlighted that, in 2024 alone, these products generated around US$1.2 billion in exports to the United States, which is equivalent to 24% of Peruvian exports to that country.

The rule signed by President Donald Trump makes modifications to Subchapter III of Chapter 99 of the Harmonized Tariff System of the United States (HTSUS), which entered into force on November 13. In that sense, a new clause is inserted that excludes specific products, many of them related to religious purposes or tropical fruits, from additional tariffs previously imposed.

The list only specifies the products that will be exempt, but does not group them by countries from which they are exported.
