The official reported that there are several homes affected after the heavy rainfall.
In the midst of the emergency caused by the intense rains in Silvania (Cundinamarca)the mayor of that town, José Ricardo Pulido, delivered a preliminary assessment to La FM of the situation after the installation of the Unified Command Post (PMU).
The official explained that the priority is focused on caring for families affected bythe Villa Esperanza neighborhood and in the search operation for three missing people, after his vehicle was swept away by a sudden flood.

Today, after the evaluation we have, we have affected five homes here in Villa Esperanza, where we have 60 people who have been affected, among them 17 minors, that are being cared for, that have been channeled,” he explained.
Emergency care in Villa Esperanza
The mayor reported that in Villa Esperanza there are five affected homes, which left 60 people affected, including 17 minors.
The families are being cared for by Family Welfare teams, the Attorney General’s Office, the National and Departmental Risk Management Unit, the Red Cross and officials of the Government of Cundinamarca.
“The governor has been very attentive, sending the necessary personnel not only to this point, but we have in the different areas. 18 points where we have the bench going, where we have bridges at risk. Seriously, yesterday’s downpour was immense and the effects have been quite a lot,” he explained.
The official also confirmed damage in 18 rural points, where loss of benches and bridges at risk have been reported, which maintains the alert in the municipality’s paths. Regarding the search for the three missing peoplePulido explained that 20 rescue units are working in two teams: one that advances downstream of the river and another that covers the route in the opposite direction.

In addition, the municipality incorporated drones to fly over areas that are difficult to access. José Ricardo Pulido recalled that around midnight one of the occupants of the vehicle was found dead. and expressed his hope that the joint work will allow the other people to be located soon.
Regarding the future of the affected families, the official acknowledged that there are requests for relocation, especially from those who live in sectors with recurring risk.
He explained that a previous administration had awarded lots for this purpose, but risk problems were identified on those lands. “From here we can tell the municipal, departmental and national authoritiesespecially to national risk management, that we need resources for the relocation of these families,” he noted.
Currently, Departmental Risk Management is carrying out mitigation works and it is expected that at the beginning of 2026 it will be determined if it is viable to intervene and build new homes for about 17 households that require relocation.

Meanwhile, the municipality has set up temporary shelters, will manage rental subsidies and continues to provide humanitarian aid. The mayor reiterated the call to the National Government to ensure the necessary resources for the definitive relocation of the families.
