The Venezuelan Red Cross held a comprehensive day on November 14 and 15 in Apartaderos, Mérida state, in which it served more than a thousand inhabitants of the community, who were affected by the heavy rains in the months of July and August.
Luis Manuel Farías, president of the Venezuelan Red Cross, said that the technical team was present to address the most urgent needs of the population. He indicated that in this phase They delivered hygiene and cleaning kits, water purification tablets, water filters and kitchen kits for 332 families. In addition, 1,531 people received medical care and 384 inhabitants had psychosocial support services provided by specialists from the institution.
«The Red Cross deployed and was present at the clinic with doctors, first responders, nurses and psychologists because it was the need they had in the community. “This is how we are present in prevention, emergency and recovery,” said Luis Manuel Farías.
The day also included the delivery of medications and the installation of a tank with a water system for the clinic, with the aim of improving its operation and guaranteeing access to the resource for patient care.
On the other hand, specialists from the Venezuelan Red Cross reinforced prevention messages, consultations were carried out in various specialties and new needs were evaluated to guide future interventions.
So far in 2025, the institution has assisted more than 200,000 people in different emergencies through different projects.
With more than 4,000 volunteers and 41 branches throughout the national territory, the organization maintains its commitment to strengthening community capacities in risk management and prevention, both in educational spaces and in vulnerable areas.
