Caja Piura launches its new renewed digital platform, establishing a new standard of accessibility in the microfinance system, by becoming the first Municipal Caja in the country to integrate a UserWay content reader, a key tool for people with visual disabilities, making financial services available to all users in Peru, reported Marianela Albirena, Head of Marketing at Caja Piura.
The platform reinforces the commitment to diversity and inclusion by activating its functionality through an API (Application Programming Interface) that translates with a single click all the essential information of the portal, from products and services to commercial campaigns.
The implementation of the content reader becomes an advance in universal accessibility, because it facilitates autonomous access to information for people with visual disabilities and other conditions, by converting written text into audio and offering contrast and font size adjustments.
“For an entity like Caja Piura, which focuses its work on regional socioeconomic development, modernizing its website with these criteria is a fundamental action of social responsibility and financial inclusion. We seek to guarantee that information about products such as credits and savings is accessible to everyone regardless of visual ability. This step strengthens transparency and will allow more Peruvians, in all regions, to make informed and responsible financial decisions,” said Albirena.
Useful design and future projection
The design of the website is customer-centered, seeking simple and intuitive navigation to facilitate inclusive functionalities, the platform integrates credit and savings simulators for a better understanding of the products and an active Financial Education section.
For Municipal Savings Banks, whose historical role has been the decentralization of financial services and support for microbusinesses, investment in modern and accessible digital platforms ceased to be an option and became a strategic imperative for our institution. Digitalization is the most powerful catalyst to reduce financial exclusion in Peru, added the specialist.
The decision of a Municipal Bank to invest heavily in the modernization of its digital platform, focusing on inclusion and financial education, reflects an understanding of the role of microfinance as an engine of development.
