The representative of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Panama, Rocío Medina, announced that the entity approved the sum of $15 million for education in Panama.
He explained that it is a donation of non-reimbursable resources and it is aimed at addressing the issue of the migrant population, as well as nationals.
“There are challenges in terms of quality, curriculum, infrastructure… this donation from B/. 15 million that has been approved by the migration facility managed by the IDB will help support the migrant population as well as non-migrants, in order to meet the challenges,” Medina said in the Cara a Cara program.
Also, these funds will be oriented to statistics, information and to improve deficiencies.
“There is no data, for example, of the migrants who arrive and who are receiving an educational subject, although it is estimated that it is much less than the local population, we are going to see a series of information, surveys to be able to support this subject. But this issue goes hand in hand with our program that we have already been doing with Meduca, for example, the issue of schools, the whole issue of books, the thematic materials that did not exist before,” said the IDB representative.
