Trinidad and Tobago and the United States began a week of joint military exercises, the second they have carried out in less than a month and which have the objective, according to authorities, of guaranteeing preparation for the fight against crime.
While US Marines are in Trinidad and Tobago, the exact number and locations are unclear due to increased secrecy and security protocols that are part of the exercises, local press revealed.

This Monday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, regretted the position taken by the government of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who would be acting without his back to his people and the military authorities of the island to turn the country into a aircraft carrier against Venezuela.
“Trinidad and Tobago mortgaged the seas to threaten Venezuela and the Trinidadian people are totally against it. It is a shame that the police and military forces of that country do not know where the United States troops are,” the president protested.
