Colombians will have a new rest bridge in 2026, perfect for traveling or relaxing. Why is this extra day given? We tell you.
For Colombians, enjoying days of rest is more than necessary. Throughout the year, festive long weekends have become a tradition that allows you to disconnectshare with the family and take the opportunity to travel or carry out cultural activities. And now comes news that will surely make many happy: in 2026 there will be a extra festive bridge.
The traditional Three Kings Day, which is celebrated on January 6, will be moved to Monday, January 12, becoming the first long weekend of the year.
The modification was confirmed by the Government of Colombia, which applied the Emiliani Law, which allows moving certain holidays to the following Monday to generate long weekends and boost the economy, especially the tourism sector.
Thus, workers and students will be able to enjoy an extra long weekend just after the New Year celebrations. This adjustment responds to the fact that the January 6, 2026 will fall on a Tuesday, and that is why the holiday is automatically moved to the following Monday.

In this way, institutions and companies will have to reorganize their agendas to adapt to the change, while Colombians will be able to take advantage of an XL weekend to rest, travel or share with family and friends.
The transfer also represents an opportunity for domestic tourism, since long weekends tend to generate greater occupancy in hotels, transportation and recreational activities.
But this will not be the only bridge in 2026. According to official projections, The country will have 18 holidays, two more than in 2025, and 11 of them will be tourist long weekends, which will allow Colombians to plan getaways throughout the year.
How many long weekends will there be in 2026?
