Víctor D’Aza withdraws his presidential candidacy: he reaffirms his commitment to the unity of the PRM

Víctor D´Aza retira precandidatura presidencial: reafirma su compromiso con la unidad del PRM

Santo Domingo.– The leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Víctor D’Aza, announced this Monday that he is ruling out his presidential aspirations for 2028ensuring that his decision responds to a moment that, in his opinion, demands internal cohesion and stability for the country.

The statement was offered at an event where he was accompanied by prominent figures of the PRM, including the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco; the vice president of that chamber, Dhaurelly D´Aza; the president of the National Commission of Internal Elections, Deligne Ascencionand Rafael Santos Badiaresponsible for Education and Doctrine of the political organization.
Numerous local leaders and followers from all over the world also attended the meeting. Villa Gonzalezthe politician’s native community.

A message focused on unity

D’Aza expressed that his resignation from the pre-candidacy arises after a long process of analysis and consultations, in which he concluded that the national context requires avoiding internal tensions.

He thanked those who supported his project and valued the experiences gathered during his tour of different provinces, where, he said, he was able to learn first-hand about people’s concerns.

He argued that the PRM must remain as a compact block to guarantee stability, highlighting the president’s management Luis Abinader as a reference for this purpose.

Will continue working at the municipal level

The politician clarified that his retirement does not mean distancing himself from public life. He indicated that he will concentrate his efforts on strengthening local governments, an area to which he has dedicated much of his career.

D’Aza stated that he will continue to promote coordination between the central government and municipal administrations, and that he will persist in promoting actions that strengthen transparency and efficiency at the local level.

My decision seeks to serve more effectively. Municipal work continues to be a priority, and from there I will continue contributing to the PRM and the country”, he noted.
