A surprising anti-corruption operation left the mayor of Cangallo, Teófilo Núñez Achallma, detained and revealed alleged irregularities that reach several municipalities in Ayacucho and Huancavelica.
The Second Office of the Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Corruption Crimes of Officials of Ayacucho carried out a raid and arrest operation against alleged members of the criminal organization “Los Sagaces de Gestión de Obras” since dawn.

Since dawn, prosecutors raided 14 properties, including offices of the municipalities of Cangallo, Huanta, Chincho and Independencia, in addition to Provías Descentralizado in Lima and the company Wari Contratistas Generales SRL, linked to businessman Max Klizman Pretel Casaico, who remains missing and would be, according to the investigation, the alleged ringleader of the network.
The Prosecutor’s Office is investigating an alleged scheme through which businessmen and authorities would have coordinated the formulation, financing and execution of works, including a road project of more than S/ 20 million in Huanta and water and sanitation works in Cangallo, to then raise costs and manipulate documentation.

Businessman Juan Carlos Gómez Gonzales was also arrested in the operation. In addition, computer equipment, documents and more than S/ 24 thousand in cash that would be part of the case were seized.
The alleged network would include officials, mayors and consultants who would have worked with different ministries to ensure the approval of projects and benefit from their execution.
The case remains under investigation while arrests and proceedings continue.
