In a recent session of the Council of Ministers, the request for the extradition of former magistrate César Hinostroza Pariachi, who is a fugitive in Belgium, to be prosecuted by the Peruvian justice system, was approved.
The measure will be made official through a supreme resolution that resolves to accede to said extradition request proposed by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
According to PCM, the measure was adopted after the report issued by the Official Commission on Extraditions and Transfer of Convicted Persons, which recommended granting the request, after the Permanent Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court declared the request admissible, in accordance with the current constitutional and procedural framework.
Hinostroza is prosecuted for the alleged commission of the crime of generic active bribery in the case called “Los Cuellos Blancos del Puerto.”
The extradition request was made by the Third Supraprovincial Permanent Preparatory Investigation Court Specialized in Crimes of Corruption of Officials, of the Superior Court of Justice of Tumbes.
The decision will allow the former magistrate to be extradited from the Kingdom of Belgium to our country to be prosecuted by the Peruvian justice system.
The PCM mentions that with this measure the Executive reaffirms its will to promote institutional strengthening, which requires a firm fight against corruption and unrestricted respect for due process, essential pillars to consolidate citizen trust.
