The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) reported that a total of 37 political organizations have registered their respective presidential formulas in the Institution’s Primary Election Registry (REP), in order to be ready to participate in the primary elections that will take place on November 30 and December 7.

It should be noted that the election of the presidential shortlists of these 37 political organizations will be carried out through the delegate modality and in two stages. First, political organizations will elect their delegates on November 30 in elections organized by their central electoral bodies and, secondly, the elected delegates will elect on December 7, this time in processes organized by ONPE, the candidates for the 2026 general elections.

Two more are added to these 37 groups. the Peruvian Aprista Party and Popular Renewal that have opted for the affiliate modality, who will vote directly to elect their candidates on November 30.

Vizcarra and Quero

On the other hand, the electoral body reported on two requests made by the Peru Primero party and Ciudadanos por el Perú.

In the first case, he indicated, the central electoral body of Perú Primero sent a letter to the ONPE asking it to specify the motivations for rejecting the registration in the REP of former president Martín Vizcarra as a candidate for a vice presidency.

The second case involves former Minister of Education Morgan Quero, who aspires to run for the presidential seat for Citizens for Change.

In both cases, the ONPE has responded that “to allow the registration of candidates, the Primary Election Registry uses as an essential and unavoidable input, the register of affiliated voters approved by the National Elections Jury, in accordance with the provisions of article 201 of Law 26859, which provides that the JNE supervises and approves the final electoral register.”
