This Saturday the United States Government began the immigration operation “Charlotte’s Web” with the deployment of the Border Patrol in North Carolina, underscoring the growing actions of the Trump Administration in Democratic areas.
The operation in Charlotte, the largest city in North Carolina, focuses on “illegal alien criminals” who are trying to protect themselves “with sanctuary policies,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a statement, cited by EFE.

The DHS maintained that almost 1,400 immigration detention orders have not been respected and that they are increasing DHS law enforcement to “ensure that Americans are safe and remove public safety threats. There have been too many victims of illegal alien criminals,” according to Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary of the department, quoted by the Spanish agency.
The DHS did not detail how many agents it deployed or the number of arrests on the first day, although since Friday it emerged that the Trump Administration would send the Border Patrol to areas led by Democrats, such as Charlotte and New Orleans, to replicate what has already been done in Los Angeles and Chicago.
The beginning of the immigration arrests sparked protests in North Carolina, where nearly a million immigrants live, of which more than a fifth are Mexican, according to data from the American Immigration Council.
The leader of the Democratic Party in North Carolina, Anderson Clayton, denounced that “Border Patrol and ICE are currently arresting and robbing community members from the streets of Charlotte.”
Charlotte is a racially diverse city of more than 900,000 people, including more than 150,000 foreign-born, according to local officials, notes cnn.

The Charlotte City Council and Mecklenburg County said in a joint statement that “the operations” of the Border Patrol “are causing unnecessary fear and uncertainty.”

Border agents have been present in the offensives unleashed by the White House in Los Angeles, in June, and Chicago, in September, which left hundreds of detainees and complaints among activists about the use of excessive force in the operations, where several people have been shot.
The United States deported nearly 400,000 migrants in the first 250 days of the second Trump Administration, which began on January 20 with the promise of the largest deportation in history, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which foresees the expulsion of 600,000 in the first year of administration, according to EFE.
