After years of neglect, Sierra Norte and Nororiental are connected with road rehabilitation and inclusive development

  • “This work is an example of humanism,” said Governor Alejandro Armenta, during a supervision tour.
  • The highway will connect more than 79 municipalities in the Northern and Northeastern Sierra.

AHUACATLÁN, Pue.- The rehabilitation with asphalt pavement of the Ahuacatlán to Zacatlán Highway will allow communication between more than 79 municipalities in the Sierra Norte and Northeast, as stated by the governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta during a work supervision tour he carried out. “This highway is an example of humanism as stated by the president, Claudia Sheinbaum,” the president said.

The head of the state Executive emphasized that said communication route had not been intervened in years, which is why the rehabilitation of 50 kilometers began. He reiterated that with the Machinery Modules they will work on the modernization of primary streets and avenues in the municipalities of the interior of the state, with the purpose of bringing commerce, tourism and services to the communities. “Roads represent progress and especially this one had not received maintenance for many years,” he stated.

The president pointed out that for the state government the indigenous population represents great pride, since the mountain families are as important as those from the capital of Puebla.

During the tour, the Secretary of Infrastructure, José Manuel Contreras de los Santos, indicated that the constructed section is a safe work, carried out with quality, that benefits the inhabitants of the municipalities of Zacatlán and Ahuacatlán. The secretary announced that with the Machinery Modules acquired by the State Government, the 100 kilometers of the Interserrana Highway will be completed. “Without moches and without cornfields,” he stated.

It is important to note that 18 thousand cubic meters of milling were carried out, 8 thousand 200 meters of storm canal, four drainage works and 18 kilometers of ditches were built. In the municipality of Ahuacatlán, 1.4 kilometers of hydraulic pavement were built. During the past rains, 3,500 cubic meters of collapse material were removed.

For his part, the municipal president of Ahuacatlán, Miguel Villalba Cabrera, recognized the initiative of Governor Alejandro Armenta, for bringing progress to the communities, since he assured that many years had passed without carrying out a rehabilitation of such magnitude. “This work connects several municipalities, For the Love of Puebla and For the Love of Ahuacatlán,” he said.

“The road had potholes, it was ugly, which is the entrance from Zacatlán to Zapotitlán,” is the testimony of José Francisco Sosa Hernández, a resident of Ahuacatlán, who assured that several state administrations passed and they had forgotten the road. He highlighted the work of Governor Alejandro Armenta for rehabilitating such an important highway for the Sierra Norte.

Meanwhile, José de los Santos, another resident of the Sierra Norte, who frequently uses said road, assured that previously there were landslides and the ditches were full of dirt, they never cleaned them, however with the governor’s initiative, currently the road has a different face and the work was of quality, he stated.

With rehabilitation works, the Government of Puebla works in accordance with the humanism of the government of the Republic of President Claudia Sheinbaum, and with social bioethics, for the benefit of all.
