The outlawed party Citizens for Freedom (CxL) expressed its “strongest rejection” of the guilty verdict issued by the justice of the Daniel Ortega regime against the former deputy Pedro Joaquin Chamorro Barrios, 70, founding member of the opposition political organization. And he demanded immediate freedom for the prisoner and other political prisoners.
On the night of Friday, March 11, Chamorro was found guilty of the alleged crime of abusive management, ideological falsehood, appropriation and improper retention from the extinct Violeta Barrios de Chamorro Foundation (FVBCh). The Prosecutor’s Office requested nine years in prison against him, after a marathon political trial held behind closed doors.
The former minister was prosecuted along with his sister Christian Chamorro and former employees of the Foundation, Freight Marks, Walter Gomez and the driver Peter Vasquezfound guilty of alleged money laundering and other crimes.

“With the certainty that justice will soon prevail in Nicaragua, we will not cease our demand for the annulment of these irregular judicial processes and the full release of all political prisoners,” concludes the party’s statement led by the exiled Kitty Monterrey.
The opposition politician, eldest son of the former president of Nicaragua Violet Neighborhoods and Pedro Joaquin Chamorro Cardinalmartyr of public liberties, is isolated in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ) in Managua, known as “El Nuevo Chipote”.
