The Communist Party of Spain (PCE) expressed its rejection through a forceful statement about the military presence of the United States (USA) in the Caribbean Sea. The political organization demanded the immediate withdrawal of US naval forces, arguing that these actions violate International Law.
The PCE referred to this intervention as “Operation Southern Lance,” noting that the dispatch of the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford represents a “very high-risk military escalation.” The political force not only condemned the action, but also questioned the justification presented by Washington, which maintains that this operation is aimed at combating drug trafficking. According to the party, this argument is unfounded and constitutes a “maneuver that violates international law” with the aim of intimidating a sovereign country.
They stressed that the true intention behind this operation is the exploitation of Venezuela’s vast natural resources and the destabilization of the revolutionary process.
They denounced the cognitive war and the media siege orchestrated by the US to undermine the legitimacy of the Government of President Nicolás Maduro, creating a favorable environment to justify the use of force and promote a change of government, Telesur reports.
In this context, the PCE urged governments and multilateral organizations to “act urgently to stop this warlike drift.”
They reiterated their unconditional support for the Venezuelan people in their right to defend themselves and in their fight to build a project of social justice, firmly stating that: “Venezuela is not alone.”
The PCE’s condemnation joins the voices of other countries in the Global South and the criticisms made by Russia regarding the growing US militarization. This position reaffirms the defense of Venezuelan sovereignty and highlights international opposition to any type of military interference, emphasizing that Washington’s true objective is to control resources and dismantle social justice processes in Latin America.
