The Mayor, together with the person in charge of the Events Area of the Municipality of Cerro Largo, gave more details about the 2026 carnival that will have 5 parades by Aparicio Saravia and a show at the Municipal Summer Theater.
The participation of most of the artists who will participate in the main festival of the departmental capital in the month of next February has already been confirmed.
“We have been working on the invitations for the figures that we want to come to the Melo Carnival. As the Mayor said at the time, those that come from abroad are finished and we are going to work with what we have within Uruguay” Fabián Martínez expressed that he preferred not to handle the names yet because the final details of the contract with some of these figures need to be finalized.

On the first day – Saturday the 14th – we are going to close with Fede Rojas, on the second day – Sunday the 15th – we are going to close the parade with Miriam Britos and on Monday with a Samba bloco from the city of Montevideo with a long history in carnivals” Martínez advanced.
“On Friday the 20th we will have the presence of the Samba Schools, it will be a parade only in this area. For that day we have confirmed two Schools that will come from the city of Artigas, Rampla that always comes and Emperatriz del Progreso that will also accompany us. Fabián Martínez confirmed that the election of the Carnival Queen will be held on January 31, 2026. La Corte – King Momo and Queen – who was elected a few days ago will also visit us from Porto Alegre. One of the prizes for them was to come to the Uruguayan carnival.
