The Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, published on his Telegram channel, a statement from the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity, in which he warned about “Operation Southern Spear”, launched by the United States Government, which sent the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford to the waters of the Caribbean Sea.
In this regard, the Network denounces that the military escalation could become a military confrontation against Venezuela, “which would bring with it a massacre and geopolitical destabilization on the American continent and in the world.”
In that sense, they point out that the purpose is to impose a change of government in the national territory and thereby seize natural resources.
Below is the full text of the statement:
Urgent call from the Network in Defense of Humanity
Given the imminent and dangerous launch of “Operation Southern Lance” by the Government of the United States (USA), which is taking place in the Caribbean Sea and very close to the coast of Venezuela, the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity demands that:
Let us condemn and alert the international community about the new escalation by the US Government with the sending of the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford that joins the war forces already present, announcing the implementation of the Plan “Operation Southern Spear, with the baseless pretext of the fight against drug trafficking.
Let us denounce that this military escalation could become a military confrontation against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which would bring with it a massacre and geopolitical destabilization on the American continent and in the world.
Let us clearly expose the true interests of the cognitive war on the part of the American empire, which seek to destabilize the legitimate government of President Nicolás Maduro, generate a scenario of justification for the use of military force to impose a change of government in the Bolivarian country, alter the correlation of forces in the region and ruthlessly seize its immense natural resources.
Let’s prevent them from triggering a massacre in the South American nation as they have done in Gaza or even a civil war as in the case of Syria.
Let us demand the immediate withdrawal of military deployment.
Let us call on governments and multilateral organizations to stop this war madness that can put the world on the brink of a world war.
Let us support the Venezuelan people in their legitimate right to prepare to resist military aggression, and to be able to continue working on the construction of a Great Homeland.
Let us defend respect for international law, the self-determination of peoples and the preservation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.
