This week was marked by the protests of the “Hat Movement” in Michoacán, for the murder of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo; the protests of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE), the mobilization of workers and former judges of the Judiciary and protests of agricultural producers.
In addition, this Saturday there will be a concentration of young people from Generation Z, that is, between 13 and 28 years old, summoned on social networks to meet in the Zócalo of Mexico City and other squares in the country, with a claim to the government and all the parties, by which they do not feel represented.
Faced with this scenario, the president explained that these “campaigns” do not affect her and at the same time recalled that she also participated in mobilizations when she was young.
“We grew up in the struggle, from the beginning we were part of the movement led by Andrés Manuel López Obrador for the transformation of the country, and in networks they believe that it is going to break us, it is going to make us feel bad, not the truth, because we only have one thing: we govern with the people by the people and for the people,” said the president.
Accompanied by the governor of Campeche, Layda Sansores, she recalled that both were part of the mobilizations that called themselves “adelitas” in 2008, in which the now former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador led the rejection of the energy reform.
Sheinbaum was “coordinator” of the Adelitas and Sansores was a senator.
At the event, the president made references to the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), which yesterday decided to deny businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego, in the litigation over multimillion-dollar tax credits, and insisted that there is no persecution in the country, but everyone must fulfill their responsibilities.
“Some of the potentates from before, those who benefited from power, those who controlled the SCJN, some who had influence over the judges, over the magistrates, over the ministers, now it turns out that the people rule in Mexico and the ministers of the Court are chosen by the people of Mexico,” said Sheinbaum.
“Those who believed they were going to follow the privileges, no, no one is persecuted here, there is freedom and democracy, but yes, everyone must fulfill their responsibilities,” he added.
“Those are the ones who would like the model to change. For them the best model is to continue supporting those at the top. Well, that ended by the will of the people of Mexico,” Sheinbaum harangued.
