It is about Saraha peasant woman who decided to travel one hour on horsebackcarrying his dog in his arms, to take his four animals on a day of free sterilization in the nearest town.

While many still doubt the importance of sterilization, Sara was clear that this was a unique opportunity to guarantee the well-being of those she considers part of her family.

A difficult journey, but full of love

Her story went viral from the profile of Edison Molina on Tik Tok, an animal defender in Antioquia, in the video he says that Sara lives on a sidewalk without vehicle access.

Getting to the nearest road takes about 15 minutes by motorcycle or mototaxi, when you manage to get one. But this time, there was no transportation available.

Even so, he did not hesitate: He saddled his mare and began the climb up a hill so steep that he had to hold on with his legs to avoid falling.while carrying one of his dogs, Jordan, carried in his arms.

They also traveled with her Marcos, Caramelo and Toby, who, although tired, followed their owner with complete confidence.

We get on a mare and I carry the little animal, for example Jordan. I let go of the reins and up. Our hill is very steep”Sara said, remembering the journey.

¿Why sterilizing was an urgent decision?

The lack of access to veterinary services in the countryside was one of the reasons that motivated Sara to make this effort. On their path, the animal welfare brigades are scarceand when the dogs leave home, they come back injured, beaten or, in the case of females, pregnantwhich contributes to abandonment and the increase in homeless animals.

We decided to bring them out like this with sacrifice. There the little animals begin to leave and arrive beaten; Those who have dogs bring them pregnant. That’s why we wanted them to stop walking around so much and be sensible in the house.”he explained.

For Sara, sterilization is not only an act of responsibility, but a way to ensure a safer future.

A lesson that restores hope

Sara’s story reminds us why sterilization brigades in rural areas are so important: Behind each animal there is a family, an effort and an immense love to protect them.. His example shows that, even in difficult conditions, there are people willing to make enormous sacrifices for their pets.
