He highlighted that the Supreme Court’s resolution came after several precedents in appeals filed to avoid paying taxes, which were processed even before the government of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
He explained that in all cases, the dissatisfied companies went before the administrative authority through appeals that were resolved against them; They filed lawsuits before the Federal Court of Administrative Justice, which confirmed the (resolution) of the tax credits, and it went to the Administrative Court, which did not agree.
Therefore, they later promoted direct amparo lawsuits that were also denied by the collegiate courts and are the ones that reached the Court.
Sheinbaum stated that the amount that the businessman must pay must be calculated, however, due to how long it has taken to pay, it has been increasing.
“There is a video out there where it says that ‘it was an amount a long time ago’. The longer it took to pay, the more fines there are, that is, if they had paid 15 years ago it was one amount, if they had paid 10 years ago it was another amount, if they had paid the year before last it was another. The longer it takes you to pay, let it be known, those fines accumulate,” he indicated.
The head of the federal Executive highlighted the work carried out by the Court ministers, who she said are now defending the interests of Mexicans.
“They are trying to generate this idea that our government now wants to use fiscal terrorism, that the SAT exercises a scheme that now makes it illegal to pay,” he said.
The president announced that they are going to publish “clearly” all the SAT criteria.
